Christensen Tools was born in 1965, 43 years ago, and was the brainchild and passion of the late Mr. John Christensen. In the mid 1960s, electronics was just starting to take shape in South Africa. There was little known about electronics, let alone tool suppliers.It was at this time that Mr. Christensen visited overseas trade shows and obtained agencies for some of the products still sold today. In those days Christensen was run out of a garage in Greenside and was ostensibly a one man company. Now, 43 years later and with 3 generations of Christensens being involved the business has thrived and developed into a national operation with offices in Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town. Steve Christensen has spearheaded the company to the heights we see today, with great patience and passion, and always led from the front. Times might have changed but the core business which started the business, still is present today – specialist electonic handtools, test equipment, toolkits and a myriad of other products directly relating to the production, maintenance and repair of electronic goods, from the old style CRT tv’s to the highly spec’d cellphone towers. This family business still has Christensens involved in the day to day running of the business, which has enabled us to keep focus on our core business. In today's ever-changing and volatile electronics environment, where we have seen IT stock soar and crash in a heartbeat, Christensen Tools has remained the market leader.
